Our Story

It started with a piece of tape.

Before Rooted was a brand, it was a credit card in a wallet, and a question that wouldn't leave: what if that space held something that actually mattered?

Not another card to swipe. Something to carry.

The first version wasn't polished. It was a gift card wrapped in painter's tape with one word written across it in marker: Chosen. No design system, no packaging, no plan. Just a man who wanted Scripture somewhere he'd actually see it, every day, in the place he already reached for without thinking.

That's still the whole idea.

Nearly four decades of learning what actually holds up

Rooted comes from 39 years in finance, across public accounting, construction materials, consumer finance, and healthcare. Four different industries, each with its own pressures, but the same lesson every time: what a man carries with him, literally and otherwise, shapes how he shows up when the stakes are real.

That same conviction led to building something outside the finance world too. Nearly twenty years ago, my wife and I started a children's book publishing business together, a reminder that the things worth doing usually start small, get built by hand, and take years before they look like anything at all. Rooted started the same way.

Alongside that, decades of church leadership: serving as trustee, deacon, and elder across multiple congregations. Different rooms, same conviction. Faith that only shows up on Sunday doesn't hold on Tuesday.

Rooted exists to close that gap, not with another book to read, but with something small enough to forget you're carrying, until the moment you need it.

Rooted in something older than the brand

The name comes from Colossians 2:6-7: rooted and built up in him, established in the faith. That's not a tagline we picked because it sounded good. It's the actual shape of what these cards are for, planted deep enough to hold, growing from something that doesn't move.

Every card in the Grounded set carries that same structure: a truth, a verse, and something to actually do about it.

One Faith. One Mission.

Help men carry what they believe, not just remember it.
